WHAT I OFFER:

Biodynamic
Somatic Therapy

Healing through relationship is one of the most beautiful and tender parts of being human and is at the core of my somatic work. My approach blends ancient healing practices and modern therapeutic modalities in order to support you in learning the language of your body and becoming more deeply connected to who it is that you want to be in this world.

This practice deeply respects your body’s inherent intelligence, supporting it in revealing, processing, and transforming what has been held deep within its tissues. In our collaborative sessions, we will work together through gentle touch, mindful presence, and trauma-informed somatic guidance in order to slowly bring loving awareness to the places that have not yet felt safe enough to resolve.

As we gently move through biodynamic practices, we help you connect with subtle felt sensations, guiding you to listen to your body’s language, the undercurrents where true and lasting healing can occur. Together we will practice accompanying parts that are stuck or frozen in time, expanding your nervous system’s capacity to be with what is difficult.

Many of the people who I work with are healers, teachers, artists, political activists, or simply people who want to engage more deeply with creating a life that feels meaningful, regardless of the norms of society. I have experience supporting folks with anxiety, depression, complex emotional trauma, religious trauma, unprocessed grief, and neurodivergence. I especially love working with members of the queer and trans community, of which I’m a proud member.

My prayer with this work is to support you in finding the safety in your body that you deserve and to help you believe, on a cellular level, that you are deeply worthy of love.

ABOUT ME:

hannah rubin, SIH is a certified Somatic Intuitive Healing® practitioner and educator in Los Angeles, CA/Tovangar. hannah specializes in biodynamic somatic therapy, nervous system regulation, holistic emotional wellness, IFS parts-work, and embodied intuition. A queer artist and writer, hannah is fascinated by the animal nervous system and how it intersects with philosophy, spirituality, theory, art, and the psyche. Generally off-line, their work is focused in Los Angeles/Tovangar where they run an experimental writing school, teach group somatics workshops, work with clients one-on-one, and co-host a monthly local radio show.

hannah has trained with Somatic Intuitive Healing Training Center (Portland, OR), The Life Energy Institute (Los Angeles, CA), Internal Family Systems International’s Open Circle Program, Peter Levine, Kai Cheng Thom, Sarah Peyton, The Embody Lab, and Alternatives to Violence Project. They hold an interdisciplinary MFA from California Institute in the Arts, where their work engaged with dams, rivers, and reservoirs as landscapes shaped by blockage and extraction, thinking alongside trauma, bodies, and what it means to turn a river into a reservoir and insist it is a lake. This inquiry continues to inform their somatic and creative work.

MY APPROACH:

Somatic Intuitive Healing

is a trauma informed holistic modality for emotional, relational, and nervous system healing. A radical shift from traditional practitioner-client relationships, SIH fosters a collaborative partnership where we work together in a safe and nurturing environment that empowers the client and supports healing to occur. Somatic Intuitive Healing draws on Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Polarity Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Diamond Approach, and Movement/Yoga Therapy. Learn more about SIH here.

 Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

is a gentle hands-on therapeutic approach that supports the inherent health of the whole being. BCST uses acute perception skills to perceive the subtle physiological changes of the nervous system to assist the system in bringing itself back into balance, which supports greater ease and helps the body decrease symptoms.

Internal Family Systems Therapy

is a transformative tool that conceives of every human being as a system of parts led by a core Self. IFS creates inner and outer connectedness by helping people first access their Self and, from that core, come to understand and heal their parts. Learn more about IFS here.

WHAT IS SOMATIC THERAPY?

It can be helpful to understand the roots of this approach. The word “somatic” itself comes from the ancient Greek “soma,” which means “sacred body.”

Historically, the primary modality of healing has been talk therapy, and while talk therapy can be incredibly rewarding, it is a “top-down” approach that primarily engages the mind. By focusing on working with our thinking brain, we end up intellectualizing our feelings and discounting the role that our bodies play in how and what we experience.

Our bodies hold memories and create patterns of behavior, often outside of our conscious awareness. If we only stay within the bounds of conscious awareness in our therapy work, we never get to learn about or play with the deeper roots of who and what we are.

Somatic therapy offers a way to meet the wisdom of our bodies and alchemize the physical expressions of our experiences. This journey of re-connection can take many forms such as meditation, mindful movement, breathwork, somatic-based dialogue, energy sequencing, and grouding practices.

The path of somatic exploration will look different for each individual, depending on the origins of their symptoms and the current resilience in their nervous system.

WHAT DOES WORKING TOGETHER LOOK LIKE?
Our work together is a collaborative process that unfolds over time. Many people find that weekly or bi-weekly sessions provide the most effective support. This consistency helps your nervous system build safety and regulation, creating the foundation for lasting change.

That said, everyone’s needs and schedules are different. If a regular rhythm isn’t possible right now, one-off sessions are also available as a meaningful way to connect with the work or receive focused support
